Volunteering

Are you looking to make a difference in our Wirksworth & Middleton community? Help us support householders to make their houses:

  • More Comfortable;
  • Healthier;
  • Emitting Fewer Carbon Emissions;
  • Less Expensive to Heat.

You will be using your skills to make an impact on the vital issues of the climate crisis and fuel poverty – but at a local level and through practical action.

In 2022-23 our volunteers organised a popular weekend of Open Eco Houses Tours, put on an Energy Efficiency Forum with stalls and presentations, and have visited 14 local households so far to help them locate heat loss with our thermal imaging camera and to discuss solutions.

We need help with:

Marketing

We need marketing professionals to help us promote our mission, which is to help local residents make their houses more energy efficient, reducing costs and carbon emissions. We need snappy marketing messages that are noticed and reach relevant people.

Office admin & information technology

Are you able to or willing to learn how to create office systems for booking and organising events, recording our energy surveys, and managing our membership records?

Trustee

We currently have vacancies for trustees on our Board. We have no paid staff so we need people who can commit to one to four hours a month in addition to attending monthly meetings and occasional events. Are you keen to promote home energy efficiency for reducing carbon emissions and costs?

Web designing

Keep our WordPress (Premium) website updated, add useful information, and improve it.

Social media

Develop our use of Facebook and LinkedIn for reaching out and spreading our message.

Everyone else

We can find a role for people from any background, as long as you are reliable and keen to promote our mission to reduce carbon emissions and costs through improving home energy efficiency.

Membership

The membership fee is a one-off £1 for life.

Terms and conditions of membership:  It is the duty of each member of the Charity to exercise his or her powers as a member of the Charity in the way he or she decides in good faith would be most likely to further the purposes of the Charity, to treat fellow members with respect and courtesy at all times and to advise the trustees of any change in personal details.
